Resolved: Mailing Lists and Google Filters

The problem with list messages going directly to Google spam seems to be resolved.  As with many other colleges and universities, we worked with Google to refine GMail filters so that all list messages are delivered to Inboxes (as they should be). You may wish to check your spam folder occasionally, to be sure that no legitimate messages have been directed there by mistake. If you have questions or would like assistance, please contact the ITS Help Desk by phone at 651-696-6525 or via email at helpdesk@macalester.edu.

Not Spam: Mailing Lists and Google Filters

We are experiencing a problem with Google's mail filters.  Some messages sent to regular College mailing lists (e.g. Staff-Announce-L, Faculty-Announce-L and Student-Announce-L) are being delivered directly into Google's spam folders instead of Inboxes. We are working with Google to resolve this issue.  n the meantime, we encourage you to open your spam folder and make sure that no legitimate messages have been directed there by mistake. Any that have can be moved back to your Inbox, and the ITS Help Desk staff stand ready to assist you with questions, at 651-696-6525 or helpdesk@macalester.edu

Rescheduled: Network Maintenance Day, Saturday March 21

ITS staff have rescheduled a regular system maintenance period for Saturday March 21, 2015, from 6:00 AM until 12:00 noon.  We will be performing upgrades, testing connections, patching and doing other tasks to keep our critical campus information systems running efficiently.

Please expect that most networked services - including Banner, 1600grand, DegreeWorks and PaperCut-based printing - will be down, completely or intermittently, during the maintenance period.

Internet access and email should not be affected, and will remain accessible.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the ITS Help Desk via email (helpdesk@macalester.edu) or by phone at 651-696-6525.

Network Maintenance Day Postponed

The network Maintenance Day originally scheduled for Saturday morning March 14 will be postponed. You may expect that all networked services will be normally accessible and functional that day.  We will work with stakeholders to reschedule the needed maintenance, probably later in March, and will announce the new date as soon as possible.
