Don't fall for the latest Macalester-themed phishing scam

Many Macalester community members have received the same phishing scam message today, Wednesday May 14, 2014.  This is NOT a legitimate request from your ITS colleagues—please do not click on the link. There is no need to "verify your account."  If you have already concluded this was a scam and clicked Google's spam button, you've done the right thing! 

Here's the text of the scam:

Dear User,

You have received this email because you or someone had used your email account from different locations.

In order to safeguard your account, we require that you verify your details.

As a precaution, we have limited access to your email account in order to protect you against future unauthorized access.

Please click verify my email account

If this is not completed by May 14, 2014, we will be forced to close your account.

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
